Hawaii activity cruises dolphin snorkeling

An activity with a combination of entertainment and recreation is dolphin snorkeling at the beaches of Hawaii. Interacting with the dolphins is a highlight of most of the Hawaiian vacations. It can be from a boat or swimming alongside in the water. Snorkeling in clear waters, cruising alongside the dolphins, touching them, knowing them is an ultimate fantasy to look for in a Hawaiian activity.

The tour operators offering snorkeling have an addition tour of providing snorkeling in combination with the playful dolphins, the colored fishes and sea turtles. The Pawai Bay on the big island of Hawaii is a home for snorkelers opting for the activity of cruising alongside dolphins while snorkeling.

The Pacific Bottlenose Dolphin, the Rough-Toothed Dolphin, the Spotted Dolphin and the Spinner Dolphin are the four species of nai’`a found in Hawaiian waters. Nai’`a is the Hawaiian name for the dolphins. Of these the most popular and frequently spotted species of dolphins are the Bottlenose and Spinner Dolphins. Spinner Dolphins are the smallest. In Kealake’akua Bay on the island of Hawaii, off the Leeward Coast of Oahu, on the southern boundaries of Maui and off the coastline of Lanai are the snorkeler sites not to be missed to snorkel alongside the Spinner Dolphins in Hawaii.

The star stealer amongst the cruises, vessels is the Bottlenose Dolphins. With their characteristic playfulness and inshore habits, they are star performers at the oceanariums too. Currently there is an estimate of a few thousand of the Bottlenose Dolphins as inhabitants of the Hawaiian waters. The dolphins come in groups of ten and fifteen to entertain while indulging in the snorkeling activity.

At night large herds of the dolphins can be spotted in the deep channels between the islands when they feed, whereas during the day they form smaller groups to rest and play near the shore. Hence the best time to perform the snorkel activity alongside the dolphins in Hawaii would be the daytime. The spectacular leaping high into the air, spinning above water and falling back into the water is one of the treats that these dolphins offer while snorkeling with them.

Hawaiian residents and the tourists have been impressive in maintaining nature for the breeding and existence of these dolphins which live a lifetime of about thirty years. The dolphins along the coastline of Hawaiian Islands seem to enjoy the company of the snorkelers. With an ability to learn and imitate behaviors, these dolphins steal the show at the Hawaiian activity of the visitors who come down to snorkel and swim with them.

Woman snorkeling

For a woman, snorkeling can be a genuinely rewarding and exciting experience. This activity of snorkeling is not one which requires different equipment or strengths or endurance. It is truly a sport where women can excel in one area at least.

In discussing what is particularly rewarding for a woman snorkeling, it should be pointed out that a woman snorkeling has some natural buoyancy built in to her body that a man does not have. Just the anatomical design makes her able to stay afloat with slightly less effort than that of her male counterpart.

Now, buoyancy aside, for a woman, snorkeling does not require extra effort which is not available to her physically. She can don the appropriate gear; make sure that she follows common sense as well as safety measures such as the buddy system. and enjoy the sport of snorkeling up into her senior years.

First, it is important for a woman snorkeling to make sure to find the best possible fit for her equipment. The equipment simply consists of a face mask attached by a strap, a mouthpiece attached to a snorkel, or breathing tube and swim fins.

The face mask should be neither too large nor too small and seal gently to the face. To prevent water leaking into the mask is probably impossible, but a light layer of Vaseline smoothed around the face probably will solve most of the leakage problem. The woman also should make sure she knows the techniques of clearing and defogging her face mask.

The woman snorkeling does not need to know how to swim, indeed many snorkelers are non-swimmers, but learning a couple basic kicks will help to move her through the water easily, and make the sport of snorkeling less physically demanding.

Safety practices cannot be overemphasized. No person should snorkel alone. There are too many situations where something can happen quickly and help will be needed. Even if swimming with a buddy, the practice of one person on the surface while the other is below is a good practice. Snorkeling is a very safe sport, and safety statements are not meant to frighten, but just a matter of good practices when entering a new environment which is not the natural element of man.

A woman snorkeling may be content to just continue a leisurely exploration of the underwater world, or she may eventually decide to expand enjoyment by taking beautiful underwater pictures of some of the unique sights and views beneath the surface of the ocean.

The colorful corals and sponges are not to be missed at these regions for a snorkeler while vacationing at Florida. Snorkeling technique

A tool used to access one of nature’s own wonderful displays; snorkeling techniques are used by aficionados to learn about a surface on earth that few are able to visit. Being totally relaxed and one with the water is the important thing to remember while snorkeling. Don’t try to figure everything out. As you practice more, you will be able to be more relaxed and enjoy your wonderful new experience.

Although snorkeling is a relatively simple technique, there are still some things to learn which will help you to enjoy your experience more.

Defog - If you are unable to see anything once you are in the water, you have wasted all the preparations and anticipation. When you put the mask on your face, the heat from your body the cooler temperature of the water tends to make it fog over, There are several ways which have been recommended to solve this problem. There are some commercial defogging products out on the marker, but most snorkelers simply spit into the mask and smear it around. Toothpaste is another alternative, so long as you remember to rinse well. You might try taking a handful of whatever plants are growing near the shoreline and rubbing those of the lens, gently. Others have found a drop or two of baby shampoo mixed with sea water will leave the face plate sparkling.

Practice - Your first attempts to wear the snorkel might go easier if you practice using normal natural breathing wearing the mask and snorkeler, but don’t get in the water yet. You can put the face mask in place, position it correctly and seal it by sucking in sharply and breathing out through your nose. Then, place the mouthpiece in your mouth. It fits like a football player’s mouth gear. It will feel strange and awkward at first to be unable to breathe through your nose and to have the total breathing through your mouthpiece, but it will get easier and more comfortable as you continue to use it.

Water in the mask - No matter how careful you are with your mask seal, sometimes it will become dislodged. When the seal is broken, even accidentally, the mask tends to fill with water. This can be removed by pulling the lower edge of the faceplate away from your face to allow natural breathing. A small amount of water left in the faceplate can be switched around. That will. clear the mask as well.

Snorkeling tours

Time spent with loved ones is priceless. And when it involves an activity done together, it is a cherishable moment for a lifetime. Snorkeling is one such activity.

Snorkeling tours are plentiful all over the world. The most common places which rate highly as a snorkeling tours are the beaches of Hawaii, Florida and Thailand. These regions are rich in underwater fauna.

Snorkeling tours are usually held in sites where in the water is calm. If the beaches are too sandy or too deep, snorkeling at these sites is a waste of time and effort. The snorkeling tours come as a part of a package tour bundle. These include food and all other amenities. The snorkeling gear which includes the wetsuit, snorkeling mask, snorkeling fins and a snorkel accompanying the tour is an added advantage. The rental snorkeling equipment tagged with a minimum charge is acceptable. Cost effectiveness is of prime concern during snorkeling tours and when the snorkeling gear costs more than the budget it is wise to get ones own personal snorkeling gear.

Opting for a snorkeling tour with a personal supervisor is a must for the beginners. Wherein, the snorkelers will be supervised from the surface and the snorkeler can also have a brief introduction on scuba diving as well at times. For those who prefer private snorkeling away from the rest of the touring people, a private guide can be hired. They offer services for an hour or so for the exploring tour and will be at the snorkerlers service for the amount paid. They can also teach different techniques using different floating devices.

Private snorkeling tour operators generally have a site dedicated under their belt. And they will entertain the snorkelers under their tour only at those sites. Some of the tours will offer to take the snorkelers into the inner reef system. ”Snuba”, a combination of scuba diving and snorkeling is an offer irresistible with certain tour operators and is a hit amongst the people looking for double adventure.

Certain snorkeling tour operators boast that they entertain snorkelers only at the shallow site of the sea. It is pivotal that the snorkelers note beforehand whether the tour operator is worth the money they are spending. Snorkeling time at the sea should be more than the travel time to the site to ensure best snorkeling. In case the travel time is more, there is again no worth of the money which is trusted at the snorkeling tour operator.

The money spent on the snorkeling tour should be productive both in terms of education and entertainment in knowing the underwater life. Understanding is the key word in any exchange and is the same in the case of snorkeling tours too.

Hawaiian Fish Snorkeling Photos

Hawaiian fish snorkeling photos

When snorkeling in Hawaii you will find yourself in a position of seeing types of fish which you are not familiar with. These fish may be well known to the inhabitants of the islands, but unless you know the Hawaiian words for the fish, you may be hard pressed to identify them in your Hawaiian fish snorkeling photos.

All snorkelers, it seems eventually come to the realization that merely swimming and snorkeling through an area and observing the inhabitants is not enough. Snorkelers want to be able to remember and preserve the pictures of the beautiful and interesting creatures plants and other undersea items of interest.

While most of us are familiar with crabs and sea anemones and other such creatures, few of us have seen some of the unique endemic species found in Hawaiian waters. For example would you know a Humuhumunukunukuapua if you saw one. This small creature has a diamond shape body with scales like armor. The sides are silver and the fins are light blue. The Humuhumunukunukuapua is the unofficial Hawaii state fish, and if you take photos in Hawaiian waters, you will probably have at least one photo of this little creature. Another name for the Humuhumunukunukuapua is the Triggerfish,

If you are preparing a slide show of your snorkeling photos, and you include this beautiful fish, would you not find it more interesting to refer to it by the Hawaiian monicker rather than the rather mundane title of Trigger fish?

Here’s another unusual Hawaiian fish which you might want to include in your snorkeling photos. A Raccoon Butterfly fish appears to have a raccoon mask on its bright yellow body. It’s a real standout on the reefs of Hawaii. You will be sure to enjoy pictures of a school of these brightly colored fish feeding or swimming in crystal blue waters.

If you plan to do a lot of snorkeling in Hawaiian, you may be wise to purchase an Hawaiian identification guide for the fish which are in the Hawaiian waters. This guide will tell you the Hawaiian names, the alternative names and describe the fish from a zoological standpoint. A good guide will provide pictures so that you can better picture the creature when you come across an example underwater.

In short, Hawaiian fish snorkeling photos are popular shots for the amateur underwater photographer and the professional as well. Enjoy looking back at favorite photos and remembering the special vacations.

Snorkeling Sets

Snorkeling sets

A snorkeling set consists of the basic snorkeling equipment sold as a package rather than as individual items. Typically a snorkeling set will be matched in color, design and size, and may even have special logos or promotional stickers or labels. The decorations and colors don’t really matter except in the eyes of a snorkeler who prefers to look totally put together, but it’s fun to have a matching set of everything.

The set include first the face mask. The face mask is probably the most important part of the snorkeling set. It must be of good quality materials, with strength and scratch resistant face plate. The fit should be precise because your comfort and visibility will depend entirely upon this piece of the snorkeling set. It is better to actually try on the various pieces of the snorkeling sets to be sure that it will be not only a good fit, but comfortable to wear. When you are trying on the face mask, be sure to position the strap correctly, up high on the back of the head. Check the strap itself for durability and comfort. Next, look at the clear plastic or sometimes glass face plate. Make sure it is seated properly and that it is not set out too far from the face. The more air space between your face and the plate, the harder it is to equalize pressure and prevent leakage.

One other point should be noted: If you require prescription ground face plates, then special requirements of materials and size must be taken into account before purchasing.

The next item in the snorkeling set is the snorkel. The tube should be made of good quality materials and the float should work smoothly in the tube with no rough places or catches in the movement. Shatter-resistant material is a must and will be found in all top quality snorkeling sets. Make sure the snorkel attaches easily to the face mask, yet not so easily that it will quickly come loose and be lost to you in your adventures.

Finally, basic snorkeling sets include the swim fins. Again, it is important to make sure the fit is correct. If the fins are too large they will easily slip off your feet, particularly when the feet are wet. If the fins are too small, they will be needlessly constrictive, and will interfere with your enjoyment of the snorkeling.

Sometimes other items are added to the basic snorkeling sets, but these are extras and are unneeded to perform your first snorkeling adventure.
